چکیده
Abstract: This paper introduces an unequal probability sampling without replacement scheme with inclusion probability proportional to size. This new scheme possesses some desirable properties with regard to πi and πij , and provides a non-negative variance estimator of the Horvitz and Thompson estimator, when the values of the auxiliary variable fulfill some restrictions. On comparing the suggested scheme with some of the existing sampling schemes in respect of efficiency and stability of the variance estimator empirically, it has been observed that the performance of the scheme is satisfactory.

On Successive Sampling and Fixed Inclusion Probabilities
In the method of successive sampling, a sample of n distinct units is drawn from a population of N units one at a time. Each unit i is drawn with a fixed selection probability pi and any repeated units are ignored. When the pi are proportional to a given size measure, this is called probability proportional to size without replacement (PPSWOR). The first order inclusion probabilities πi of each...
متن کاملA Chaos-Based Communication Scheme Using Proportional and Proportional-Integral Observers
In this paper, we propose a new chaos-based communication scheme using the observers. The novelty lies in the masking procedure that is employed to hide the confidential information using the chaotic oscillator. We use a combination of the addition and inclusion methods to mask the information. The performance of two observers, the proportional observer (P-observer) and the proportional integra...
متن کاملCut-off Sampling Design: Take all, Take Some, and Take None
Extended Abstract. Sampling is the process of selecting units (e.g., people, organizations) from a population of interest so that by studying the sample we may fairly generalize our results back to the population from which they were chosen. To draw a sample from the underlying population, a variety of sampling methods can be employed, individually or in combination. Cut-off sampling is a pr...
متن کاملBayesian Penalized Spline Model-Based Estimation of the Finite Population Proportion From Probability-Proportional-to-Size Samples
This paper develops Bayesian penalized spline predictive (BPSP) estimator of finite population proportion for probability-proportional-to-size samples. This new method allows the probabilities of inclusion to be directly incorporated into the estimation of population proportion, using a probit regression of the binary outcome on the penalized spline of the inclusion probabilities. The posterior...
متن کاملOn the inclusion probabilities in some unequal probability sampling plans without replacement
Comparison results are obtained for the inclusion probabilities in some unequal probability sampling plans without replacement. For either successive sampling or Hájek’s rejective sampling, the larger the sample size, the more uniform the inclusion probabilities in the sense of majorization. In particular, the inclusion probabilities are more uniform than the drawing probabilities. For the same...
